CASCON 2009
Instructions for Camera-ready and CD-ready Copies
Congratulations on having your paper accepted by CASCON 2009!
In order for your paper to be included in the proceedings, we will need three things from you before the due date:
- the camera-ready version of your paper for the hardcopy proceedings,
- the CD-ROM-ready (and Web-ready) version of your paper for the CD-ROM and CASCON web site, and
- a copyright permission form signed by all authors of your paper.
Camera-ready and CD-ready copies are due August 19, 2009.
The copyright permission form must be received by August 19, 2009.
CAMERA-READY COPY
The camera-ready copy of your paper should be in PDF, ready to print on a 600 dpi black and white printer and must conform to the paper format described in the Information for authors posted on the paper submission web site before the drafts were received.
Please Note: Our instructions for margins are very strict in order to allow room for binding, trimming and inserting page numbers. We do not have time to be printing, measuring and sending papers back. Please follow ALL the instructions, but pay particular attention to the margins:
- Top margin (page 1): 1.5"
- Top margin (subsequent): 1"
- Left: 1.25"
- Right: 1.25"
- Bottom: 1.5"
Also, please ensure that the first page of your paper contains a
copyright notice as shown in the sample file
templates.
It is important that the final version NOT have page numbers and that any figures show up properly when printed in black and white. We will evaluate the printability of each paper as it comes in and will get back to you concerning problems as quickly as possible.
The camera-ready copy should be sent by email to "CASCON" <cascon@nrc-cnrc.gc.ca> or you may post it on an ftp or web site and send us the URL.
CD-ROM-READY AND WEB-READY COPY
As well as the submission of the text of the paper, authors are encouraged to submit supporting material which can exploit the opportunities that a CD-ROM and the WEB allow for communicating ideas. By this we mean auxiliary material limited only by the author's imagination and willingness to prepare it, subject to deadlines and fairness in sharing the available space.
The multi-platform CD-ROM proceedings is compliant with the ISO 9660 standard and readable on Windows, Macintosh, UNIX, and other platforms. It will contain all accepted papers in PDF and (optionally) in editable source format. In addition, authors can augment their papers in ways not practical with printed media: for example, by using colour images, animation, video clips, hypertext, executable demos, and source code.
Authors must submit the following information to be published on the CD-ROM:
- A copy of the paper in PDF format that can be sent to a printer and can also be viewed on a computer screen (include page numbers);
- An ASCII text file giving the abstract of the paper. It is anticipated this will have been enhanced from the original submitted abstract; and
- A short biography of each author in ASCII text format in separate files. The biography should be detailed enough to allow someone to introduce each author. Include: current responsibilities; previous positions; college(s) attended and degree(s) received; and professional association memberships.
Authors may submit some or all the following information:
- An editable source format;
- Other viewable or editable formats such as XML, HTML, MS Word, or other word processing formats; and
- Other relevant supplementary material, including but not limited to, extended versions of the paper, colour images, animation, video clips, hypertext, executable demos, source code, and bibliographies. Please contact us as early as possible if you plan to do this so that intellectual property issues can be addressed.
The CD-ROM-ready/WEB-ready copy of your paper should be in PDF or PostScript and should be set so that it prints properly and can be viewed on a computer screen. Remember: the most important differences between the camera-ready copy and the CD-ROM-ready/WEB-ready copy are that page numbers in some form should be included for the CD-ROM and the WEB, and that colour is encouraged in figures. The content of the two papers should be identical although the layout need not be the same.
Restrict the fonts you select to "standard" fonts (e.g., Times, Helvetica,
Courier) to avoid problems. If you use fonts other than these, you must
include the fonts in the generated PDF.
The CD-ROM-ready/WEB-ready copy should be sent by email to "CASCON" <cascon@nrc-cnrc.gc.ca> or you may post it on an ftp or web site and send us the URL.
COPYRIGHT PERMISSION
In order that your paper can be published in the proceedings you will have to sign a copyright permission form that grants us the permission to do so. The copyright permission form (pdf) is attached. Please print a copy and have all authors sign. Send it by regular mail or Fax. It must be received by Wednesday, August 19, 2009 (e-mail is not acceptable).
Thank-you for your co-operation. Please contact if you require additional assistance.
